Buyer Reccomedations – March 2012

Pollock: We should see a resurgence of line caught and netted fish with no quota and is a buyers choice

Lemon Sole: Lemon Sole season is now in full swing with some excellent value being seen at auctions in the southwest , larger sizes are at a premium but smaller fish should be snapped up . Buyers tip

Brill: Is great condition and good landings seen in the south , fully in season all sizes buyers choice.

Sea Bass & Guilthead Bream: Value continues to look good on both species for the next month , with some stability in supply from all farms . Guilt Head Bream is showing best value and is a buyers pick for March.

Whiting and Pout Whiting: Some nice day boat landings on both species of the sustainable un quota fish , plenty of value although gradings are difficult , small , medium and large . Should not put you off getting a good deal and is a buyers recommendation .

Monkfish: Buyers tip for March , new quotas are available in the south west and Scottish landings are plentiful with good value . All sizes from 8-10oz tails up to 2kg on offer .

Red and Tub Gurnards: These continue to improve in landings , quality and value and are now a buyers recommendation.
